The Essential Wilderness Navigator: How to Find Your Way in the Great Outdoors, Second Edition

I found "The Essential Wilderness Navigator: How to find your way in the great outdoors" to be a good book for learning basic skills of navigation for your trip in the desert. The second edition contains information on technological advances and electronics such as GPS navigation and e-maps. Although this information is at hand, there are other resources that contain more information on GPS. Personally, is the first 7 chapters which I consider most important. These are the originalarguments, with the chapter electronic navigation that is added to the second edition. The reason why I think this is because I think everyone should go into the forest to learn the basic skills of sailing without electronic devices first. Batteries die, electronic devises break and fail. It 'nice to be able to do without them.br / br / The first seven chapters covering the following topics: 1. A sense of direction. 2. Maps. 3. Compasses. 4. Navigation. 5. Navigation in use. 6. LookingThe nature of evidence. 7. Extreme environments. As I said before, Chapter 8 is electronic navigation. There is also an appendix with more useful information.br / br / I like how the authors organize the text and start with the basics of having a sense of direction. Everyone should know the basic skills of how not to get lost. As someone who spends a lot of time awareness of teaching, I liked the advice to watch where you are going and where you been.br / br / The chapters onmaps and compasses to provide explanations and guidance on their use. I found the chapters clear and easy to understand and function of maps and compass most common types you will use. The book also contains instructions on their use.br / br / One thing to understand a map and compass, and their basic functions, the chapters will teach you how the navigation actually get from point A to B or from B to C, or anywhere else you need to reach. In addition to instructions on a mapand compass together, the chapters serve to provide guidance in other well.br navigation skills / br / The chapter on seeking clues to the nature provides some tips on using the sun and stars to help find your way. The chapter on extreme environments is very short, but gives little information about mountains, snow and deserts.br / br / It is not a long book, but contains good information and education on basic navigation and the basics are what all need to learn. I think the bookis a good addition to an outside person or desert library of texts. If you read and put into practice what he teaches, you will be able to find your way, do not get lost, and ensure you found.br / br / Review by Alain Burresi, JD, author of Hard-Won Wisdom from the School of hard and the DVD: Hapkido Hoshinsul, Streetfighting Essentials, Hapkido Cane, the block of common set of locking Essentials and articles including a regular column on negotiation for the 'Lawyer Montana. AlainHe also wrote a series of articles called Lessons of the Apprentice.

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 5)

I must say that The Last Olympian is my favorite of all. Riordan writes so that a person may enter into a series without having read the previous books. (I'm so glad I read the series as a whole). I felt like a true living god throughout the book as an outsider. I always take for re-reading this book. I am also grateful for Riordan to re-introduced me to Greek mythology. I forgot how much I liked mythology and I also learned a lot more. II recommend the series as a whole for everyone, but especially, I would definitely recommend this book.

Eternity's Edge (Echoes from the Edge)

Wow! Hang onto your seats all – you read this you are in a wild ride! This is the book # 2 in a trilogy and it is wonderful. A word of caution though, I recommend reading the 1st and 2nd books back in order to stay in the flow of red earth, yellow earth, Nathan Blue, Red Clara, Nathan yellow, etc. .. I actually chose the first one and read the last chapter to try to refresh your memory, but I know that they be read in direct sequence would be very useful. I read1st one in June and have read 75 (no joke) other books in between these two so it is not surprising that the details were a bit 'fuzzy :-) br / br / br / This is a mind bending thrill ride that will your breath. It can be difficult for pre-teens to follow, but kids and adults will love this book. I can not wait for # 3 to come out and wrap everything to me! I kept thinking that a film of this series would be cool …

In a Sunburned Country

I have almost forgotten how fun it is to read books of foreign countries and cultures. Once open in a sunburnt country, memories of reading travel stories about U.S. rushed towards me. Oh, how I was surprised those years ago, apparently many Americans learn That put their T-shirts to swim in the pool and wear underwear under their truck outside swimming (I'm originally from one of these countries Speedo) or that to go to a dance school enough to have a boy friend who isthe obligation to wear a corset or American toilets have water so that when you … no, I'm not going to pursue this one.br / br / What I get is that Bill Bryson book about Australia is full of fun facts like that plus more – he also introduces a lot of information about the history of Australia, its landscape, nature, etc. Basically, tons of information for us, people who are quite unknown in this country away to finally learn something, nothing beyond what is written in Birds.br Thorn / br / What particularly stood out for me: br / br / 1), Australia, in fact, was originally strongly populated by criminals from England.br / br / 2) The country / continent is a dangerous place where you can expect to be poisoned by a jelly fish and insects or eaten by a crocodile.br / br / 3) Australians love to build great things in the manner of other things – Big Lobster, for instance.br / br / 4) How Aborigines found their way to the continentAustralia tens of thousands of years ago, is still a mystery and were not even considered citizens deserve to be mentioned Australian census until 1970s.br / br / 5) non-whites could not emigrate to Australia until the same 1970s.br / br / … and more more.br / br / All in all, Bill Bryson manages to draw a complete picture of Australia, a vast and unexplored, beautiful, dangerous, young, country far less attractive with some spots in his past (and perhaps present) .

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

One of the main points of the work of Dr. Covey is that the principles are immutable, and "techniques" come and go. I was familiar with Covey's philosophy for almost 40 years – before this book about 18. I was fortunate to have Dr. Covey as my professor of organizational behavior when I studied for my MBA then. I came out of a graduate program in engineering and the study was rather strange to me at the moment. The "principles", he taught and then we have grown inall abstract, refined, synthetic and made it particularly useful in this book. Says the book itself in a way that is grounded all its own.br / br / The value of these principles, however, goes far beyond a fond memory or the memory. I was a manager in a production environment for 30 of the last 40 years. My successes were directly related to my use of these teachings into groups leading to positive results. Instead, my failures, too, came on as atherefore to ignore or forget this material.br / br / At the moment I'm contemplating retirement. Over the past 10 years I had the privilege of being the director of a major production facility. When I arrived here I renewed my commitment to the philosophy Covey and taught classes to 33 of my managers and supervisors based on Covey's 7 Habits. Then I started to reinforce those behaviors over the past decade. The plant has broken records year after year, but especially themanagers and supervisors are aligned on a common value set and really work together in ways unknown for this group. They actually "synergize '- to quote Habit # 6.br / br / The story is a great story beyond this space. But success, as I said above, is directly proportional to our application of those principles to our daily work and interaction with others. Covey is the latest person who intends to assert these principles as their own – new or revolutionary. Its added value is in combining them in a set and showing the dependence and interdependence of them on a another.br / br / If you have the responsibility of management or leadership in any context you need to carefully consider the contents of this book. This content has worked for me for 40 years. He is right: the techniques come and go, but principles last forever!
