Godsend [VHS]

Ok, this movie does not deserve an Oscar, this is a fact. On this, I agree with the previous reviews. However, I think that most reviewers have completely missed the point. I do not care if it is supposed to be a horror movie or not, in my opinion, should be a wake-up call in regard to genetic manipulation. Aha! That's why I think this film should get at least 5 stars. In a very short time in the future, movies like Godsend not be classified as science fiction anymore. Science will be able toto provide us with a living cloned human being (or perhaps already) When this happens, "Godsend" will have a lot more sense for the auditors that this underated film. The downside is that cloning is a brutal attack against the order naural and, therefore, must be banished forever. This film and "The Sixth Day", show us the atrocities we face in the future, when scientists unscrupulous (like the doctor in this one) to introduce into their hidden agendas clones with terrifyingrepercussions. Do not be fooled, are already in trouble with the stem cells and human embryos. Soon (if not already), genetic manipulation will be the ruin of mankind, the end of life as we know it. Treason to the natural order and for millions of years of evolution! For all these reasons, I rate the film 5 stars. I hope that we can (still) the message to learn ………..

“Godsend [VHS] Discount” Overview

While it preys on the emotions of grieving parents, IGodsend/I serves up a few minor shocks in an otherwise frightless supernatural thriller. Greg Kinnear and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos are the once-happy couple whose 8-year-old son (Cameron Bright) has been struck and killed by a car. When a fertility and genetics expert (Robert De Niro) offers them an opportunity to resurrect their boy through a secret, illegal cloning procedure, they don’t know that the doctor’s hidden agenda will have horrifying repercussions when the “new” son passes his eighth birthday and begins having “night terrors” about another boy who’d suffered a similarly unfortunate fate. Any casual viewer will catch the plot twist early, after which IGodsend/I presses its flimsy premise past the breaking point. There are some eerie moments involving the kid (and Bright has effectively disturbing presence), but wretched dialogue and derivative plotting undermine the talented leads, all of whom seem to be slumming in the B-movie cellar. Do yourself a favor and watch The Omen instead – L. Bravim –
Ride is unique in that it is a horror movie with a good cast. Gref Kinnear and Rebecca Romijn to play a couple who lost their only son in the tragedy unexpected. Just when the funeral ends, leaving Robert de Niro, as a doctor / researcher, to save the day. Promises parents emotially vulnerable can bring their child, even if cloning word is never mentioned. br / br / After some hesitation on the part of Greg Kinnear, the grieving parents choose to go with the good doctor's advice and try to bringBack to their child. Who should have known that it was a bad idea, as soon as Dr De Niro has promised them a free treatment, a home and work 300 miles from where they live. The pair brought up losing all the red flags and go ahead with what will surely be a story of human genetic engineering gone horribly wrong.br / br / At first, everything seems perfect. The child born to them looks exactly like their son, and also give it the same name, Adam. Adam was the first man on earth and is also the firstevil clone. Things go wrong when Adam passes his eighth birthday and living longer its original self. Become far, does not always respond to his name and start bullying in school children. The radical change in the behavior of the alarm parents, but not enough until it is too late. If you've seen The Omen, or read some of the medical thriller, Robin Cook, you can predict the end of Godsend a good hour before it happens. The finish is confusing, disappointing and enough to ruin athriller.br mildly amusing / br / If I were watching this in theaters, there is no doubt more than one would have asked for a refund. DeNiro, Kinnear and Rebecca Romijn have also done all the movies much better.

A film with 4 alternate endings that all stink right along with the rest of the film! – KerrLines – Baltimore,MD
Poor Greg Kinnear and Robert De Niro! They wanted to work with Rebecca Romijn and this is what they got …. manna from heaven … or GODS END? What's done is perfectly awful.br / Paul and Jessie lost heir to the favorite son, Adam in a freak accident. They are contacted immediately by a scientist from cloning, which promises an exact replica of their son.Well not obtained and no will you.br / This is a big turkey!

A maybe too tame approach to what could have been nightmarish (in a good way)… – Andrew Ellington – Mulholland Drive
Okay, I have many a bone to choose with this film. First of all, the theatrical trailer were made to believe that for a very good scare. This ad is false, in my opinion. The film is not scary. Second, it sports a cast that includes, frankly, the best actor ever to walk this Earth, at least he was when he was in his prime, and then to have Robert DeNiro dumb himself down so much for a role is just irritating to me. Third, it opens with the promise and it is also concludedwith the promise, but somewhere in the middle you lose all sense of an environment and just goes stupid on us. The plot is that with a little editing could have been stellar. I say stellar and I mean that in total B-movie horror takes the floor. This could become a grade AB-movie that, if it makes sense, but instead became a C-grade C-movie and that is a shame, a real shame.br / br / The film revolves around the family Duncan, Paul , Jessie and their son Adam. You can tell right offthe bat that this family is very dense. They love more than anything and would do anything for each other. Particularly evident is the love between Jessie and Adam. br / br / if something tragic should happen and this is in the form of a hit-and-run. While out shopping with her mother for her sneakers Young Adam wonders outside bouncing his basketball (than his father had bought him for his birthday) when he is hit by an oncoming car and killed. Duncan familyfalls apart after his death and begin to wander in themselves until they meet Dr. Richard Wells who offers to give them their son back through cloning. This is obviously absurd, and frankly illegal. The Duncan would move away from their families and friends and cut all ties if they were to grant the order. After giving it careful thought and consideration (secure) decide to go ahead with cloning and nine months later, Jessie gives birth to herson all over again. Life is good until Adam becomes eight (the age at which the original is dead) and then things take a turn for the worse. His behavior changes and begins to suffer from night terrors that may or may not have a meaning. br / br / This conclusion is that, although a bit 'on the predictable, the film actually has something good. We wonder throughout the film just what Richard could be the hidden agenda (because we only know that one) and when it revealed that it is not sohorrible as it could be. What is horrible but the quality here, especially by Kinnear and Romijn. I'm a fan of Kinnear, but films like this do nothing for him. DeNiro just can not catch a break lately. He is one of our best players ever a day of work in this area, but he continues to pick the worst possible movie for himself. This could be the worst. One shining light here is however Cameron Bright, who plays Adam. He is a creepy child, and used thatto his advantage in his film choices (look in `Butterfly Effect 'or` birth' to obtain a better understanding). Here is a little 'wasted since it is not really given the opportunity to really afraid of us, at least not for a period lasting time.br / br / This brings me to my biggest reservation with this film. It's really not scary at all. With the material that had the opportunity to make real the nail and just terribly disturbing, but instead chose an approach very tame (perhapsin an effort to get the rating PG-13) and, in my opinion ruined what they had in progress. When you see that the five final shot for this film chose a tamest you realize that they did not know what they were doing. I can easily imagine a few ways they could have saved the film from mediocrity, in the final few frames (come on, boy in a shed, hatchet in hand, the mother in front of him … does anyone really survive in this film ?) but, alas, all must have aHappy Ending these days, well, sort of.br / br / So, `Godsend 'could have been a much better film, but frankly it's not, which is sad, because I wanted it to be.
